Dr Michaela Musilova is an astrobiologist - a researcher studying the origin, evolution and the future of life in the universe. She is particularly interested in the search for extraterrestrial life. Michaela has performed astrobiological research for several space agencies, including NASA, and as a reward her signature is currently on Mars. In 2014, she was selected as an analogue astronaut for a Martian simulation expedition at the Mars Desert Research Station, USA.
Michaela has been fascinated by space and astrobiology since she was 8 years old. As a child she even wrote a few short sci-fi novels, but these days she focuses on popular-science videos, workshops and articles (for example for Planet Earth, phys.org, Science Uncovered, Kozmos, Quark and others). Michaela really enjoys sci-fi and fantasy stories. Recently, Michaela was interviewed with Andy Weir to discuss his book, the Martian, and she is looking forward to reading the Fantasy Award stories.
